Current Rank - Silver V TP 92
The dreaded "promotion game." I'm last pick. Hope I can run Sylvanus supp. Oh god. I get left to my worst role. I'm mid against Agni. I decide to pick Vulcan, but I'm not confident about it.
Well, as it turns out Vulcan is a great counter to Agni. I'm able to use my 1 all during the laning phase to position myself out of his reach. I keep popping him with my 3 and using my cannon to control space. I defend my tower well. I keep two wards out on either side and I have vision and I don't get ganked.
I take his tower before he gets mine. I am crushing it. I am really feeling where to drop his ult. I end up running roughsod on this game and beating a gold leaderboard Agni during laning phase and at top damage. I ended up going 12-7-10 with 58K player damage and 19 wards placed.
This was a really close game. It went 45 minutes deep and had prolonged sieges of phoenix on both sides, and I was arguably the superstar of my team from last-pick in my worst role. I crush with my ult in teamfights late-game. I'd like to say it feels bad man, but at the same time it was a well-fought game where just a couple things went the other team's way and they ended up with the W.
Maybe I'll get that promotion soon, but it won't be tonight. The big lesson I learn here is to start trusting my instinct. I was trying to come up with a counter to Agni, and I thought Vulcan's ability to hunker down, hop around, and control the location of the fight would make a difference. It did. If I can't get a win, I can at least learn something.
